Get Creative! It Really is that Simple!

People are constantly asking me how I make these things and where I come up with my ideas. All you have to do is sit and get creative! It really is that easy. You may think you aren't creative but trust me you are. We all are. I used to think the same thing until I realized I am creative! Yes it's true, I didn't actually create any of the characters I make, but I do think of ways to make them out of cheap materials and still be gorgeous! The pictures below demonstrate this. My friends were very impressed with these backgrounds. I got the background itself from dollar tree. They're just plastic tablecloths that literally cost me one dollar. For the "Andy's room effect" I drew the clouds on paper and simply cut them out that's all! I just thought what can I use here at home to make this snazzy and pretty. I drew on the clouds using oil pastels to give it that 3d effect. Everything else is foam. With placement it's the same thing, just use your imagination. You really just need to get creative and think outside the box. You have so many tools to work with right in front of you, use them! Let's forget about the backgrounds for a second. We all know foam is soft and bends easily (well, most of us do) so, to use them as displays that stand up straight and stiff I cut out cardboard the shape of the character and glue it to the the back of the foam characters. It was simple and made them nice and stiff and able to stand up on my displays. For my cupcake/cookie displays I used styrofoam. To cut the styrofoam I simply heated a regular knife using just fire to cut it into the shapes I wanted after I traced them on to it of course. I got these ideas by getting creative. Just think and you'll get somewhere and do great things! Don't just sit there and expect ideas to come to you, get creative!
